Canadian Investment Awards

Challenge:

The Canadian Investment Awards (CIA) is Canada's premier awards program, recognizing excellence in the Financial Services industry. They required an agency partner who would be responsible for increasing their brand exposure, expand their circle of influencers and sponsors, create buzz in the financial services industry, create a theme, drive the marketing and deliver a flawlessly executed and sophisticated Gala.

Solution:

Strategic:

Kaleidoscope was selected as CIA's agency partner because of the end-to-end service offerings they provided. A theme was developed that was incorporated into all aspects of the Gala including sponsor and guest communications, advertising, Gala booklet, and all venue logistics including culinary and entertainment experience.

Tactical:

Venue Management: Kaleidoscope managed all aspects of the Gala; budget management, venue negotiations, booking and management of the Fairmont Royal York, invitation and registration process, AV, presentations, menu and wine selections, signage, décor, spearheading the "leaders and legends" video, media and winner kits.

Sponsorship:

Kaleidoscope managed the entire sponsorship program including communications with strategies for sponsorship activation and exposure for the Gala, including sponsorship kits and agreements.

Advertising:

The advertising campaign was built around the message of long-term investing - all the while driving award submissions and attendance and delivering exposure to all sponsors. Multiple print and animated electronic ads were designed by the Kaleidoscope in-house creative team and were placed in trade (Investment Executive) and consumer (Canadian Business, Canadian Investment Guide, Money Sense) publications in colour and black and white. Kaleidoscope orchestrated everything in this process.

Branding:

Building on the corporate logo that Kaleidoscope created earlier, a newly designed Winner Logo series was introduced in 2008, per award, which added Silver and Bronze categories along with several new awards.

Public Relations:

Creating the PR strategy, Kaleidoscope built the buzz surrounding the CIA - driving exposure, attendance and brand awareness to new heights. With Kaleidoscope's leadership in the gala, a record number of media attended which resulted in national media coverage.

Corporate Video:

Working with Morningstar on the production, Kaleidoscope conceived and managed the Legends and Leaders video - bringing senior-level executives, such as Barbara Stymiest, then CEO, TSX, together to share their words of inspiration during the challenging economic times of 2009.

Results:

The event was sold out with over 650 guests – an incredible feat given the crash in the economy at that time. Feedback from guests indicated a positive experience that was innovative and professionally managed and innovative. Our client made a profit and announced at the Gala that she was selling the property to Morningstar.
